How does the Agent System Work?

This is a question that goes to the entire purpose of Global Artist Agency. The agent system is a scary and Byzantine world that makes little sense to anybody but an industry insider.

The current system is inherently set up to reward the agent, who does little more than take a percentage of your money. An agent is necessary, however, because he/she is presumed to provide a safe and secure environment for a transaction. A number of questions may arise from this.

Why do I need an agent?

An agent is necessary because both parties, artist and producer/buyer, need a secure environment in which to operate. Basically, the agent acts as a middleman.

All parties want to protect themselves from legal actions pertaining to misrepresentation, especially when it comes to intellectual property. The agency provides the mutual forum for a successful transaction.

Can I represent myself?

Most producer/buyers will not do business with a self-represented person since they are concerned with the legitimacy of the transaction. Producer/buyers need to protect themselves and the agency is the primary way to do it.

What does the traditional agency do for me?

Frankly, the traditional agency does almost nothing for you. Unless you are an “A list” client - someone highly known and marketable - they will not sell your work nor will they promote it in any way.

Will an agency package my talent with others?

If you are already signed with an agency and they happen to like your work – the agent may try and package you with other talent. Again, unless you are an “A-list” talent, chances are slim. Through our global supply of talent has a better chance than most to create a workable package.

Why our Agency?

Our Agency takes a new approach to the functionality of the talent agency. Our Agency does not make value judgments on your work and allows you to control the process, interacting freely with the producer/buyer. We are here to help our client/members present themselves in order to get the best deal on a level playing field – the way it should be. GAA provides the same protections as a traditional agency plus GAA is designed to allow the process to operate transparently and easily - and our commission is only 3%.

We provide our talent with access to services which should help them to conclude a successful deal. This ranges from mediation services all the way to live agent representation should this be requested. GAA is always looking out for the client.

How does your Agency help our talent?

We alluded to the shortcomings of “conventional” agencies. Like a conventional agency, we cannot guarantee to sell your work. However, with our unique approach, our talent will reap the rewards for all the promotion we do in the industry. One of our jobs is to make sure that our talent gets noticed and has the exposure they would not otherwise have. Our innovative marketing in industry venues will distinguish us as a premier agency. Therefore, our clients will reap rewards as we become the de-facto standard for talent agencies.

The Agency will provide an environment that will give you an unique opportunity to showcase your talents.
